God created us to be in community because
it is His very nature – Father, Son & Holy Spirit
exist in community. We are created in His image and so we need
one another. St. John small groups provide an opportunity to
live out the Christian life through support, accountability,
growth, and service.
St. John provides at least two 6-week small groups series each
year, usually Fall and Spring. Commit to joining a group for
at least one of them. This is a starting point. We hope you
will give it a try! Many people find that they end up wanting
more frequent contact with their small group friends. Some groups
reunite multiple times a year. Others meet monthly or weekly
throughout the entire year.
SMALL GROUP SERIES COMING THIS FALL!
"Not in My Backyard!"
How to say “No” when someone pulls up, lowers their
emotional tailgate and starts dumping on you.
Caring or being used? Compassion or codependence? Healthy limits or divisive walls? How does a Christian discern the difference? What are legitimate boundaries? How do I answer when someone wants my time, love, or energy? Aren’t boundaries selfish? Christians often focus so much on being loving and giving that they forget their own limitations. Boundaries are personal property lines that define who you are and who you are not, and influence all areas of your life. It’s also a very Biblical concept.
How to find a small group:
-
Connect with other parents in your
child’s Sunday School class or confirmation group.
-
Invite a few friends for coffee and
suggest meeting as a group for the 6-week Lenten series.
-
Get together with neighbors or co-workers.
(They don’t have to be part of St. John to benefit
from the small group!) Share the link for the sermon podcasts
and reflection handout for small group questions.
-
Get the kids together for a play group
and talk about the small group questions together.
-
Have a family group! Set aside time
as a family to discuss some of the age appropriate questions
or carve out a date night to delve deeper in the Word
with your spouse.
-
Ask someone you see at worship if
they are in a small group that you can join.
-
