Who are Lay Pastors?
People who give themselves in Christian love to strengthen and
encourage their designated flock within the St. John faith community
in times of weakness and times of strength.
Why do we have Lay Pastors?
The need for one-on-one contact in and among our congregation
is far greater than can be handled by the pastors. Rather than
isolate those in need, we've felt called to equip and empower
those who are gifted in this particular ministry area. Those
who have been touched by this team of individuals in a time
of need, might not have otherwise been contacted. After all,
if we are to care for the lost and hurting in our midst, we
must expand the support base.
Types of lay pastors:
- Lay Pastors for Visitation (shut-ins, hospitals, nursing homes,
etc.)
- Lay Pastors for Member Care (serving five to seven families)
- Lay Pastor Small Group Leaders
- Lay Pastors for Recovery (to be added in the future)
