I will put my law within them, and I will write it on their hearts; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people. Jeremiah 31:33
We are just two short weeks to Easter and closing in on celebrating God’s fulfillment of Jeremiah’s prophecy of a New Covenant, our relationship with God made new through the sacrifice and resurrection of Jesus. We are surrounded by a world ready to spring forth with new life, showing visible symbolism of the Easter story at every turn. We are encouraged and full of hope.
Now is a good time to take stock of all the things that fill our hearts. We come before God in thankfulness for the ways He has changed us and given us new life in Christ. He sees our love for Him and for others. He sees the way we share blessings and show compassion. He sees the way we are growing into spiritual maturity. He responds by writing His words of truth; words we can rely on in difficult times and share with others in need. He fills our heart with words of preparation to extend His Kingdom and invite others to hear the Good News.
We also confess the ways we have limited His access to our hearts. There are things that clutter, distract, and distort our hearts and block God’s Holy Spirit. We have strongholds and territory we have given over to our human desires and the enemy’s ways. Yet He has written words of hope and encouragement within us for exactly these challenges! We are not left on our own even in the distant and hard territories of our hearts.
What fills your heart today? God has a good Word for you about it. We can be confident that His Word will bring grace to the entire landscape of our hearts. We were designed in His image of love and that is the way He sees us. So “take heart,” take courage, and let Him into all the dark, damp, or dusty corners in your heart today. He is our God and we are His people. That is His promise!
